Dr. Terry Flynn, APR, FCPRS, LM is one of Canada’s leading public relations/communications management researchers and an important bridge between the academy and the profession.
Following a 20-year communications consulting career, Terry joined the faculty of McMaster University after completing his Ph.D. studies at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. During his professional career, he built an international practice specializing in crisis and risk communications and public/community engagement working with such organizations as: the Town of Walkerton Ontario; the U.S. Navy Public Health Agency; Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada; and the Vinyl Council of Canada.
His advice and counsel has also been internationally recognized by: the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS); the International Association of Business Communicators; and the Community Relations Awards. Terry’s scholarly work has been published in the Journal of Public Relations Review, Public Relations Journal, Canadian Journal of Communication, Corporate Communications, and the Journal of Professional. In 2015, Dr. Flynn was given the prestigious Philip A. Novikoff Award by the CPRS, for superior contributions to the advancement of the profession in Canada and throughout the world.
He is a member of a number of professional and academic organizations including: the Canadian Public Relations Society – and was its elected President in 2009-2010; the Institute for Public Relations (member of the Board of Trustees); the International Association of Business Communicators; the Arthur W. Page Society (member of the Board of Trustees); the Canadian Communications Association; and the Association for Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Terry, a life-long resident of Kitchener, Ontario, is currently on the faculty of the Department of Communication Studies & Multimedia at McMaster University in Hamilton, where he founded Canada’s first and only Master of Communications Management degree program in 2007. Dr. Flynn’s innovative teaching style was recognized in 2010 and 2011 when he was named “Professor of the Year” by the DeGroote School of Business. In 2018 he was named “Mentor of the Year” by the Canadian Public Relations Society.

Stephanie Flynn, RN., BN., MN
Vice President and LTC Advocate

A native of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Stephanie has had a life-long passion for long-term care and the issues that surround caring for our aging populations. A hospital-trained nurse (St. Clare’s, 1982), Stephanie went on to complete her Bachelor of Nursing degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax (1987) and her Master of Nursing degree at Athabasca University (2009).
Stephanie was appointed to the faculty of Conestoga College in 2006 as professor of the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program, a position she held until her retirement in December 2021.
